Sorry it's so late.
We headed out of Niantic with Captian Harry Angier on the Southbound about 4:30AM on the 23rd, Stopped in Montauck for bait and ice then we were off. We were somewhere south east of the point in about four and a half hours and started trolling. We didn't pick up anything on the morning troll so we fished Mahie around the high flyers and did well. We got about a dozen or so in a short time and decided to go find some fish. We hooked up later that afternoon on 5 albacore all at once. Wouldn't you know it I was in the bunk sleeping and woke up to fish hitting the deck. We got all five on the deck and turned around to hit the school again. Just as we were getting the last line hooked to the outrigger it was snatched from John's hand then they started going 1 on..2 on...3 on... well we ended up with six on and reels screaming. Talk about a rush we ended up getting five in the boat. Later on that evening just before sunset we lost a couple big fish we never saw but they were pulling drag. We sat up for our night drift and a school of squid came by but most of the night there were only a couple around the boat. We had a couple of big schools of bait around us times but no fish over night. We started our morning troll about 5:00AM and the water was like glass, a little too smooth we were on a school of bait that went from 50' to 200' on the fish finder, if any thing was going to happen it should have happened there. We trolled back and fourth for hours with nothing, at times you could see the water shining from all the bait at the surface but nothing was breaking the top other than Dolphins they were cool to watch.
Over all we ended up with 11 albacore and a dozen or so Mahie so I would have to say it was a successful trip. Enjoy the pics.
