New to area and need help! 3 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I have recently moved into the Milford area near Laurel Beach, I have tried fishing off Laurel Beach and Long Beach but have not had any luck yet. I am using a castmaster and was assured that it would work so I guess I just don't know where to go fishing around here!

Any help on hotspots near or in Milford would be great, also any tips on how to lure fish properly are appreciated.

yea, I'm also new to the CT area and would love to tighten up to some stripers this fall, but I have no idea where to go. I hear the mouth of the CT river is good, but again any tips on where to park/fish would be greatly appreciated.

best,

JD

in my experiance the best striper fishing has been by the mouth of the CT river, on shore fishing and out at the race in a boat. there is the DEP dock just off of 95 in old lyme that you can fish at, mostly schoolie swim through during the summer months not so much during the fall. if you check hillyers tackle and rivers end tackle web sites they have some good tips on where the fish are. rivers end has the fishing report every week, and as of now the Striper are slowing down and the blues are really picking up. niantic river is another good place to fish, just make sure you have at least a 2 oz wieght because of the current at the mouth of the rivers. i personally use a 3 oz with a slider rig and try to use fresh bait. the best way to find good fishing spots is to go to the local tackle shops and ask around, see where they ae biting, and if you dont know where a place is ask...just make sure you can access the area before even wasting the gas to get there...best of luck to you

P.s. caught this fish at the mouth of the CT river on chunk bunker...in saybrook by the cause way...just to give you a little hope that there are fish out there.
