Headed out Saturday morning (11/24) to 11B. Was greeted by thousands of birds! Non-stop action on crippled herrings, teasers and diamond jigs. Over 50 fish in 2.5 hours, caught fish all the way through slack tide. Once the tide started going out, the fishing really turned on. Our last drift produced 9 fish (4 were double headers!), and 2 dropped fish, all in 5 minutes. Fish were in so thick we each snagged one in the tail and I also snagged one in the dorsal fin - while jigging! Had 3 keeper bass, largest was about 31". Two bruiser blues, one had a schoolie inhaled in its mouth. All fish had completed bloated stomachs. The two we kept had peanut bunker in one and the other had a whole herring, 2 mantis shrimp and more peanuts. They have the feedbag on big time! We both had to head in just has the tide was picking up, I imagine it only got better.

If you're lucky enough to still have a boat in or know someone who does, the fishing is insane right now!!

Great report Chunker. I was out at 11B and obstruction buoy over the weekend. As soon as the marker was in sight we saw the birds hitting the water. We were able to catch pleanty of small stripers along with a few big blues. Although jigging was producing, the lure that was a guarantee was the bunker storm shad. It was hard not to get a fish with it.

If you have your boat in the water still, I would say 11b or OB is worth taking a trip to before the end of the year.

Larsen.

NICE! That was crazy fishing out there last week! If it was like that all the time, I would think I had found fishing nirvana. Unfortunately I think it has slowed way down out there, then again, who has their boats in still?

I'm essentially throwing in the towel on this year. Unless a steady herring run happens, last week was it for me. I saw one guy fishing at South Benson for herring on Saturday but looked like he had el skunko. Awfully cold out!

You do a great job with this site! I'm sure it is quite a bit of effort, much appreciated. I try and participate and post as much as I can. I hardly fished this year, other than snappers with my son, so I did not have much to contribute. The times that I did get out, they weren't worth writing about. Let's hope next year turns on like 2006 did! We should plan on hitting the water together in '08.

What's the deal with herring fishing, I was under the impression that it was illegal to fish for them.
